No-yeast bagels

The Corona pandemic has imposed a new situation on all of us. The severe shortage in flour and in yeast has forced me to go back to old recipes I had that included either little or no yeast at all.

These bagels is one example. They come out of the oven crunchy and smell so good.

  • 1 c. all-purpose flour

  • 1 flat tsp. Baking powder

  • 1 c. yogurt

  • ½ tsp. salt

  • 1/2 tsp. sugar.

  • toppings: sesame seeds / zaatar / poppy seeds

  1. Mix the ingredients.

  2. Divide the dough into 4 or more for mini bagels.

  3. Roll each piece into a long rope and form a round bagel. 

  4. Dip in water and then dip in any topping you like: sesame seeds, zaatar, poppy seeds, everything but bagel seasoning.

  5. Bake (380°)  for 30 minutes.
